Wide Area Network (WAN)

WAN

Category: Network

Wide Area Network (WAN) services provides managed Wide Area Data Communication by utilizing the Illinois Century Network (ICN).  WAN Services are available for all State of Illinois agencies, boards, commissions, K-12, higher education, libraries, museums, healthcare facilities and municipalities.

AT&T ASE is a Metro-Ethernet service offering that replaces AT&T Opte-Man services and is now the standard for agency last mile connectivity to the ICN. Customers utilizing this service receive the benefit of data WAN connectivity to the ICN, a managed router service for customer equipment connected to the ICN and access to the Internet. Data WAN connectivity to the ICN for Agencies is provided via an Enterprise MPLS Virtual Network Environment.  Access circuits installed at the customer premise provide connectivity to an ICN POP (Point of Presence) and are terminated at both locations with Cisco routers or switches that are managed by the Enterprise Network Support and Field Operations Group. Customers also benefit from the variety of connection methods that are available that allow for effective and efficient data communications. These connection methods provide customers with Internet access as well as site-to-site communications.

Rates and Billing

Rates listed below are monthly recurring charges (MRC) that include:

  • All AT&T charges for services are not to exceed monthly charges for AT&T ASE service at selected bandwidth levels. Pricing is based on a three year term commitment. If service is discontinued prior to the end of the three year term, termination penalties may apply.
  • ICN Bandwidth rates listed are aggregate bandwidths for the connection to the ICN and will be dispersed across Internet, Intranet and real time services such as VoIP and Video.
  • ICN Managed Router charges

Additional Installation Charges:

  • The majority of AT&T ASE service one time installation charges are waived. In the event of a one time install charge, approvals will be obtained from the agency prior to ordering.
