DOR Associate Director Chima Enyia Capitalizing on Analytics

Deprtment of Revenue

The Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR) realizes the power of data and wanted to combine their data with technology to save money, be more efficient and be more secure.

With that in mind, they launched programs to improve the accounts processing function. In the first year alone, DOR was able to prevent over $19 million in fraud through technological advances and that number is expected to nearly double in the second year. Another area embracing the value of data is the auditing division. By using analytics, better decisions can be made on who, when and how to perform audits.

Enyla described the goal of DOR’s analytics efforts by stating, "Part of our initiative is to connect technology to the business areas and to the taxpayers."
